No Smoking Signs for the Vanderburgh County Smoking Ban
June 25, 2012
As of April 1, 2012, the Smokefree Air Ordinance prohibits smoking in all workplaces and public places including bars, restaurants, private clubs and off-track betting facilities.
What does this mean to you as an employer?
Per the Vanderburgh County Health Department, you must post no smoking signage on all entry ways, remove all ashtrays and inform your employees and customers that smoking is no longer permitted indoors. The Vanderburgh County Smokefree ordinance states that smoking is prohibited within 10 feet outside any enclosed area where smoking is prohibited.
Do signs need to be posted?
Signs clearly stating no smoking must be prominently displayed at all public and employee entrances.
We can’t remove the ashtrays from your entryways for you but we can inform your employees and customers that smoking is not permitted in your facility. We have several signs that comply with the signage requirements listed in the Vanderburgh County and City of Evansville ordinances.
