I have a challenge for you. For the month of November, share daily at least one thing you are thankful for.
It shouldn’t be that hard, right? Surely you can come up with something to be thankful for every day.
Here are some handy tips on how to be thankful:
- Stop focusing on you.
- Start a gratitude journal. List ten things daily you are thankful for. On rough days, go back and read past entries.
- Call a friend with whom you’ve lost touch.
- Anonymously buy lunch for a soldier, nurse, firefighter or police officer.
- Contact a homeless shelter to see what current needs they have and be prepared to meet some of them. For instance, Evansville Rescue Mission needs blankets, pillows, towels, travel sized toothpaste, and other toiletries.
- Give blood. While sitting there, read about what your gift accomplishes.
- Give half. Budget what you’ll spend on Thanksgiving preparations this year. Take half of it and donate to a food bank. I bet you’ll still have plenty to eat on Thanksgiving… so will at least one more family. Bonus points if you can do this with your Christmas gifts, too. Extra bonus points if you can get your kids involved and excited about it.
Will you join us this month in being thankful? Post on our Facebook wall what you are thankful for.
