Unicorn Drunk Driving from Smashing Magazine

Good design? Why not?

Two articles from Smashing Magazine that I shared with my design team this week:

Five and a Half Habits of Highly Effective Designers
Filled with references and links out to other resources, this article is a quick read on the surface but has some pretty significant undertones that are good reminders of setting customer expectations and our role as designers in communicating effectively with those who sign our paychecks.

Examining The Design Process: Clichés and Idea Generation
The debate of design genius vs design process rages on. Is good design a result of strokes of genius or is there an actual process that can be methodically used to arrive at good design? This is a well thought out examination of how the designer should and can use the process of graphic design. And besides, who doesn’t love a unicorn illustration to drive home the point of bad design?
