Pantone’s 2011 Color of the Year – Pepto Bismol… er, I mean, Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle Pantone 2011 Color of the Year

Honeysuckle is the new Turquoise (Pantone’s 2010 Color of the Year).

Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it.

We’re not sure how we feel about this color choice. Used in moderation, it could be a very nice addition to a color palette. Used in excess, you can almost smell the wintergreen undertones as it coats your now sickly stomach.

In the sign industry, Pantone’s system for matching colors and ensuring color consistency is used on a daily basis. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes open for how their color choice for 2011 affects the design industry.

What do you think of their choice? Do you have a Pantone color you would have preferred to see in the spotlight?
