Team Member Spotlight: Matt Gentry

Matt Gentry happy to be designingMatt Gentry has been an AmeriStamp Sign-A-Rama Team Member since August, 2008. As a model train enthusiast, Matt loves restoring antique steam powered model trains. One of the details that is required when restoring these trains is to reproduce the train numbers and insignia as accurately as possible. Because of this, Matt originally came in to buy a simple custom rubber stamp of a train engine number so he could accurately mark his latest restoration project.

He came in a few times after that for rubber stamps for other engines he was restoring. Eventually, Matt asked about any graphic design positions we had open. Being a sophomore graphic design student at the University of Southern Indiana, the timing was excellent. We were in need of a part time entry-level designer. Many of the signs we create here do not require years and years of graphic design experience… seriously, how creative do you really need to get with a ‘For Sale by Owner’ sign? After hiring Matt, we were thrilled with his work ethic, his willingness to do non-design related tasks like sign installation and fabrication, and his all around good attitude.

USI Grad - Matt GentryFast forward nearly three years and we are pleased to announce the now graduated Matt has decided to stay on full time with us as a ‘real’ graphic designer! We’re still happy with his work ethic and his attitude and now we have the pleasure of enjoying his design skills on a full time basis.
